Any Other Name

"What's in a name? That which we call a rose
By any other name would smell as sweet..."

When Norma Jeane Baker changed her name, a 20th-century icon was born. Today, an equally monumental name change* will take place. Brace yourself, ladies and gents (okay, mainly ladies)...

Today, my blogging buddies over at Any Other Wedding will become:

Woo hoo! I was lucky enough to get a sneaky peek at the new Any Other Woman site before it went live this morning and I am blown away by the amount of passion and hard work that has gone into creating it. The new concept makes perfect sense; for a long time, AOW has been venturing beyond its original remit of weddings and marriage and discussing everything from feminism to friendship, body image to books and the men we would if we could (phwoar). Clare, Aisling and Anna have fostered an amazing community of "smart, flawed, real women", of which I am proud to call myself a part, and I can't wait to see where they take us next. Congratulations, guys.

This week on the blog, to celebrate the happy coincidence of Any Other Woman launching today and International Women's Day on Thursday, I'll be writing about - for want of a better word -Womanly Things, starting with that awesome picture of ol' Marilyn up there. Tummy rolls? Check. Imperfect skin? Check. Wild, untamed, breathtaking beauty? Check check check. You show 'em, Norma.

Now, what are you still doing here? Go and visit Any Other Woman immediately! I'll meet you back here tomorrow.

*Possible slight exaggeration.

Marilyn Monroe shot by Andre DeDienes on Tobey Beach, Long Island in 1949. I don't need to tell you where the quotation's from, right?
