Right, that's enough of that feminist rubbish.
Friday, March 09, 2012It's time for the really important questions.
Such as: Do you think I could pull off this dress as a wedding guest? I've tried it on and the shape is AMAZING, but how do I style it without looking like Barbie just threw up all over me? I'm thinking chunky, non-girly accessories might help? And what shoooes?
Yes, I know. It's pink. Don't judge me.
Okay, fine, if you want me to talk about yesterday, I will say this. All of the posts on Any Other Women were phenomenal, but I especially adored this one (you know how I feel about Maggie O'Farrell) and this one. Loved them BIG TIME. You should read them. And all of you who left comments on my post and sent me tweets that made me all mushy and happy: I love you big time, too.
Now. Back to the dress.

I think you could pull it off.
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty sure the girl who pulled off walking her dog to Blook Club in stilettos can pull off ANYTHING. Rock it.
ReplyDeleteI like it and think you could definitely pull it off but I'm not keen on the matching pink jacket in that picture.
ReplyDeleteAnd surely your go-to accessory is Smidgen, no?
Yeah, the pink jacket-pink dress combo is a big fat no.
DeleteObviously Smidgen goes with everything.
Okay, you'll either look like Barbie or Alicia Silverstone in Clueless. Or something from TOWIE. As long as you're good with that....
ReplyDeleteSee, this is my fear. And no, I'm definitely not good with that (even though I have a not-so-secret soft spot for Clueless...)
DeleteHmm, I think some Polyvore-ing might be called for.
I agree with what Mel said. I think navy would work but might look too prim and proper for accessorising. White would look fresh but a bit too girly. Yellow could work, or red? I think a nice bold coloured shoe (to use the fashion singular) would look pretty good. Or those grey platforms from Topshop with the hot pink perspex heel.
ReplyDeleteOkay, so I made a pink-and-grey polyvore set which is totally not wedding appropriate, but might be more wearable for daytime/drinks/book clubs (obv): you can see it here.
ReplyDeleteI like the idea of navy (thanks Siobhan!) and it might be a bit more weddingy, maybe with gold accessories? Will investigate...
Yes! That looks fab!
DeleteOh I love the dress. I would do a big chunky bracelet/bangle in black or silver, big post earrings (not dangly) and some similarly imposing dark footwear. In other words, nothing very girly.
ReplyDeleteOoh or, what about tan? (shoes) with lots of cream bangles?
Obviously you've awakened my inner stylist.
leather jacket, black pumps
ReplyDeleteYeah, that would look ace - but to a wedding??
Deletehell yeah, to a wedding!
DeleteNot to diss the lady in the pic, but I think you'll rock it way better. (An aside: for some reason, the idea of barbie throwing up really amuses me!)
